Cole Hamels

because he had 15 k's a career high for him like 2 weeks or 1 and 1/2 weeks ago. but it will be hard for him because Charlie Manuel (the Phillies manager) and the phillies pitching coach rarley lets any one pitch a complete game. plus niether of them know what the heck they are doing. last night is a prime example: the score was 2-2 aganist the braves they took Jon Liber out which was ok, put Brett Myers in (who is the best reliever we have but our bull pen sucks even with him) Myers pitched a SCORELESS INNING, but took him out any way, put in Antonio Alfenseca < (sp) who let Andruw Jones get a 3 run homer in the bottom of the ninth. pathetic is all i have 2 say.

Anyways i think cole hamels will

Peavy had 16 just last week, so he's reached the low end of the possibility charts, but I doubt the 21-K man is pitching in professional baseball today.

Consider, it took the talent level of Clemens/Johnson (and Wood at his very, very best ever), and the right opposing team, to ring up 20. Rocket and Unit are extremely rare, extremely high-end performers. It's not going to be someone unanticipated.

As someone said before, not many K's pitchers right now. But it could be Johan Santana.
He has the power and control to do it.
He has won 2 CY (2004 and 2006).
Has been strikeout leader (in the majors) from 2004 to present, having and average of 9.72 K/9 Ip during that stretch.

I think before he retires the big hurt randy johnson will go out by breaking his own strikeout total.

But he will probably give up 5 homers in that game as well

I would say Johan Santana, because when he has his best on a night then watch out. He has a great fastball and a great changeup. It would have to take his best night ever to break this record though.

Curtis Granderson - just because he swings at everything - and comes up blank a lot of the time.
