I once went up to a perfect stranger in the grocery store parking lot to thank him...he had a WWII veterans license plate...I think I shocked him...but I meant what I said

Yes, a lot. I'm married to a veteran of the Grenada conflict. He always says all he wants on Memorial Day or Veteran's Day is just "thank you". And he gets teared up.
