Common side effect of pills, contact your doctor and I will recommend you to stop the pills and are affecting your cardiovascular system. This is the begining let the pills do not complicate your body system.
Use other methods, but no hormones.

Before you do anything else, you need to find out why your legs are swelling. Have they ever been swollen before for any reason? Did you have any trauma, a fall, bug bite, anything? You need more than a blood test, you need to know what the results of the blood test were, did they test you for kidney and organ problems? diabetes? If those are negative you still need to be tested for blood clots, vein problems, which would require a veinogram. Also, what about your annual female exam? Have you had one? Is there any cysts, fibroids, endometriosis? All these things need to be ruled out. If they are, then it could be lymphedema. Lymphedema is a malfunction of the lymphatic system, it causes swelling like you described as gravity pulls it to the lowest point. IF you have lymphedema, diuretics are NOT recommended, they push out the fluid but not the plasma, proteins, and gunk contained in the fluid and that builds up and becomes rock hard. Lymphedema is progressive and you need care right now before you worsen.

The standard protocol for lymphedema is a specialized technique called complete/complex decongestive therapy whch consists of a medical massage called manual lymph drainage or lymph drainage therapy. It feels simliar to a Swedish massage, and the therapist pushes the fluid out of your body. It's not "just" your legs, for your legs to swell your whole lymphatic system must clog up about 70% to show up so you need a full body drainage from a certified therapist. the therapist will teach you how to do the bodywork yourself, teach you do's and don'ts, skin care, and exercises to promote lymph flow, you will be wrapped at first to keep your legs down to the smallest possible, then when they are you will be prescribed compression panty hose to wear to keep them that small and you must be vigilant in doing the bodywork and wearing the hose.

Until you get the tests and diagnosis, keep your feet elevated when you sit down, elevate at night, do not take the diuretics, and don't stand in 1 place without moving your legs even if they are up and down, wiggle them as much as you can.

You need to get a good pair of support hose to wear and wear low comfortable shoes. Limit your sodium intake (read the labels on everything you eat). Use the diuretics the consultant prescribed. If all of this doesn't help then ask for a consult to see a vascular doc. If you don't understand the doc well ask his nurse to translate or explain it all for you.

You could try getting a lymphatic drainage massage. It will help you. Also, try to make sure you elevate your legs as much as possible.
