Like when they need a baby to cry for a movie scene, do they sit around and wait? I doubt it, in hollywood where time is money. I'm almost certain there is something terrible that goes on behind the scenes to get babies to cry for movies....

They can't physically hurt them (I believe there was a time they could, but it was considered cruel).

There are laws against it, and, I THINK there's someone on site to make sure they don't do things like pinch or slap.

The reason they have to use twins is that shooting takes a long time, and it's considered cruel to have babies "working" those long hours.

My GUESSES -- mostly waiting, possibly things like taking pacifiers away, the miracles of editing (you can film the baby when it's crying, and edit it in).

The "have the mother hold, then hand off" sounds likely to me, too.

It would be interesting to know, but I'm pretty sure they can't do anything physical to them.

Well... I'm not so sure about how they get them to cry but I do know that when they get them to laugh, they are usually doing something backstage like making faces or something. Maybe they use the same kind of technique to get them to cry.... or maybe they do wait.... who knows?

Babies cry pretty easily, so I'm sure that it isn't much more than maybe a bit of itching power in the diaper.

who ever is holding them pinches them, the director brings out a scary mask, or they look like theyre about to attack someone the baby loves.

they stick red hot spoons in their diapers

but seriously they mostly use twins, to increase the odds of getting a baby in a proper mood for a scene

I think they don't do anything. Babies cry almost all the time.

I was told that they will take a bottle or pacifier away from them. They also will have Mom hold them for awhile then give them to somone else.
