I'm going to give my red ear slider some crickets...How many should I let loose in the tank? And how long should i leave them in there if he don't eat them right away? Thanks!

RES eat alot, I would sujest putting a good number in and see how many it eats, they will eat crickets and get alot of nutrients from them, but it may prefer earth worms and feeder fish, its your choice though.

There are several opinions on this. Choose your favorite:

- Only as many as you want to chase in your house if they get out.

- Only a few at a time, and remove them if not eaten in a couple hours (my personall choice!)

- Pretend you are raising crickets- how many can live safely in the tank? A green plant sticking out of the water can safely house a few. Pretend to raise them, and just replace those that get eaten.

Actually, pond sliders are aquatic turtles, so...

You should be feeding him minnows as a main staple.
