My laptop CD Drive doesn't read the disc. I first have to PUSH it in by hand and hold it there for the computer to read the disc. How can I Fix That or should I replace it?

Replacing it will be a lot easier because it is surely defective.
Though you will spend money but it will save you a lot of hassles in the long run.

This can happen from time to time.

If the laptop is still under warranty, then you should bring it in for service. It is possible either the latch or the screw that normally holds the drive in place is loose.

If it is not under warranty, bring it in somewhere anyhow.

Fixing this kind of problem is sometimes very simple, but more often it is not. Especially when you have never taken a laptop apart.

Depending on what kind of laptop it is, you might just be able to remove it an replace it yourself without taking the laptop apart, but without knowing what laptop you have, I couldn't tell you.

Sounds like a broken latch on the drive. Check the manufacturer's web site to see if they sell replacement drives and for how much. Depending on the price, consider going with a USB burner instead.

with my experience, i have never had a problem with FIVE computers that i have built. either its home made and the creator blows, or you take bad care of your computer. either way, i say replace it, or check the power source. if it is higher than the motherboard reccomends, ditch it and get a new 1.if not, you're boned.
