The question was generated upon request of a friend who happen to hear of "Yahoo Answers" on the radio. I had no prior knowledge on how it worked. But I have read your answers and one answer cites the emancipation Chinese act of 18??. Which I find particularly interesting. This may have been Legalization of Racial Discrimination which may in the making in our southern borders today. The truth of the matter is that they (Chinese) were not asked to leave by the United States. The Chinese were forcibly driven from the mines, and settled in Chinese enclaves in cities, mainly San Francisco, and took up low end wage labor such as restaurant work and laundry. Therefore the Chinese were not ordered. Instead the were coerced to leave by citizens (probably descendants of immigrants) or find less that optimum living conditions. The government failed to recognize their rights. At this time there were some pioneer of social justice that did make note of their treatment.

The Chinese were never ordered out of the United States, but they were severely limited on their ability to enter the US. This wiki article expalins the Chinese Exclusion Act which was pass in 1882 and lasted 10 years, with two other acts that did the same thing and imigration restrictions were not repeal to 1943, though not fully repeal to 1965.

Who told you that the Chinese were ordered out of the US. While we as a people controlled their immigration the Chinese and Japanese continued to come into this country trough all of the late nineteenth Century to today. To bring over women and their families they used loopholes in the laws and settled in Chinese Communities , called Chinatowns, all over the Western US. They were centered mostly in Northern California in the City of San Francisco. Though Los Angeles had a large community also.

The Chinese have never been ordered out of the USA. They have, however, been invited to our shores since 1840's with the gold rush, AND, they are still welcome today!
