First off, get the U.S. out of these internationalist global schemes such as the WTO, WBO, IMF, WHO etc,. These "world order" practices do nothing but undermine our nation's and other nation's sovereignty. These organizations are oligarchical, abrogating the cultures and idiosyncracies that define their diversity. Homogenization of the world's population will only breed discontent and further the seperation of the haves and have nots. With these organizations dictating economic policy, accountability is lost and representation will only be in the hands of the undefined few. I do not understand how congress can betray the American people when clearly these organizations are in complete violation of the Constitution? Now I do not mean we should be xenophobic, nor an isolationist nation. Free enterprise that seeks a "natural" equilibrium" between nations based on need, is the "order" of the day. Our founding fathers understood that trade and tariffs protected the people of this great land against the greed by those who indulge in the globalist dialectic. This is the sine qua non that international banking schemes use to have power and control over every nation, and every flesh and blood sovereign on this planet. I would expect my president to protect his people first , and by osmosis other countries in the spirit of cooperation would follow suit according to their rights, respective to the natural evolution of international goodwill and largesse. Only then may we respect and like our president so that others in the world may do so too.

People like a President to be bold, decisive on one hand and compassionate on the other. They want a President to be able to empathize with them when times are hard or when tragedy strikes, but they also want a President that will take action when needed.
Most people distrust the Presidency, or politicians in general, because people say they lie. Most times, what a candidate says before they're elected and after they're elected could be construed that way. The candidate is not privy to the same information as the incumbent. The candidate will say "I'm not going to raise your taxes", but when they actually look at the budget, they might have to raise taxes, based on the economic outlook, GDP, etc.
Whether or not people like their President will be a topic for eternity. People are so cynical that even if Jesus was President, people would find something not to like.

I think peoples' expectations of the President and the gov't in general are too high. The President can not make your life better or worse. Only the individual has that power.

He has to tell the truth at least some of the time. We are a very forgiving people, we understand he'll have to lie some of the time but when he lies all of the time about everything and he's too stupid to even lie properly because he keeps getting busted, then we lose respect for him.

That is impossible for everyone to like the president. No matter what the president does, someone is going to disagree. But I think all presidents should be ethical. It seems that ethics don't exist in politics.

I can only speak for myself but he or she needs to have balls of steel, not worry about what the rest of the world thinks or whether they're are being politically correct. I know, your thinking George Bush, nope he is a weenie compared to what I would like to see. we need someone who is concerned with America, Americans and enforcing laws.

Charisma is a huge help. However, no matter who a president or a presidential candidate is, there will always be both supporters and detractors.
