I don't think so, although 'show me a good loser and I show you a failure', also holds true.

The trick is not about winning, but savouring your great moments and successes. When your club plays a beautiful game, with outstanding individual skill, flowing teamwork, simple but correct 'passing football', that is what you must appreciate more, above winning trophies.

If you are gonna base your support solely on winning cups or trophies, you'll never truly enjoy the game. This is because no one club can win all the time, every great club has their 'phase in history'.
Instead look for certain games each season, where your club plays so well and wins, that you can go to bed with wonderful thoughts and memories.
If the season ends with some trophies, well and good, but if not, then nevermind, but you had 'your day in the sun'.

This season my 2 clubs have impressed me with these 2 games:
1. Bayern 0 Milan 2
2. Forest 3 Charlton 0

Anything better is a bonus, but I'm satisfied.

yes, respected sir, i agree with you

hence the wins of man utd are especially sweet

7-1 vs roma (when they were a goal down from the previous leg)
3-2 vs milan (when 2 brilliant goals by kaka seemed to defeat them)...

yes, it's not just about winning. its about how you play it.

Football may be about winning for some but it definitely isn't for me. If football were about winning then many many clubs would be without supporters and this is not the case.
Other people support their home town teams and I dont think it is a good enough reason.
I am an Arsenal fan and this season has had its ups and downs (mostly downs) but there is no way I'll stop being an Arsenal fan just because they have not won any trophy or do not beat teams at the bottom of the table. I support Arsenal because it is full of great talent both the young and the experienced.
I agree with your suggestion of looking for particular games each season that one enjoys.
I enjoyed these mathches:-
Arsenal 6 Liverpool 3
Arsenal 6 Blackburn 2
Arsenal 1 Chelsea 2

No, it's not all about winning but it sure is good when your favorite club takes the victory. Unfortunately, that didn't happen with Chelsea today but i'm still a fan. A reall fan supports their team in the good times and in the bad times.

It's not about winning, it's about supporting your team in good and bad times.
I've been a Juventus fan all my life and when they were relegated last year I supported them more than ever, that's when they needed my support the most!!
