Yes,voting is totally impersonal,and I would much prefer it to come from the asker,unless of course they wouldn't have picked me in the first place and that its back to the vote!!What is this business that people can vote for their own answer?That kind of defeats the purpose of someone else finding your answer,clever enough to pick it now doesn't it?I one time picked a "best answer"for a question I had posted, and something went wrong and it went into a vote,I felt kind of bad because I had picked the "best answer"and I sort of felt like I ripped those people off,having it go into a vote..

Yes, it is impersonal. I would rather have the asker, that way I know if I helped answer their question. Voting leaves me wondering why he didn't pick a best answer.

Picked by the asker without a doubt have had answers voted on which only received like one vote and that's just not enough recognition for me I need the comments and a couple stars to make me feel good.

yes it is. I would rather be picked by asker but I always look at voting as more than one person liked my answer.

The asker, because then I know I've helped them. You never know if the voter is voting because they just like / agree with your answer, or if because they have the same problem and you helped them too.

By the asker, because that means I helped them out in some way. If they hand it over to voting, it means they really didn't get an answer they wanted.
And this is on the same subject, doesn't it annoy you when you are the only person who answered, you know you answered it correctly, and they still stick you to voting? I mean ... thanks, man. :(
