is VIOLENCE ever the ANSWER for ANYTHING?

under what circumstances is it acceptable?

i'm sorry ... i have to disagree with some of you.... if ANYONE touches my lady, my mother, my grandmother, any children in my family or my dogs.... im takin them out no hesitation....... 9and i don't mean for a drink)

The only time that violence is acceptable is in self defense where as some one is attacking you with a weapon or if they start getting physically abusive towards you. Or if somebody is beating on a kid. Or if they are attacking one of your loved ones. Otherwise it's unacceptable to attack innocent people or if you're a guy to beat up on women and whatnot.

Break it off with him. This is an unhealthy relationship. Slaps are the start of something that you don't want to see. Even if it didn't start, this is him showing his true colors and what he is really like. It is dangerous and this will just get worse the more you 2 are together. If you do decide to break up with him, I would advise not to do this in private seeing to that he has a bit of a violent background. If you are in a public place there is less of a chance he will get upset enough to hurt you in any way.

To everyone who thinks violence is justified as a form of self defence, it isn't always justified.
You don't have to be violent to defend yourself. I work in mental health and if I was violent towards a patient who had lost control and was giving me a hammering I would lose my job and be dragged through the courts. In any situation, working in mental health or dealing with a drunk idiot, you can only use as much force as is necessary to protect yourself and those around you if they are in danger too. 99% of the time that means violence isn't necessary.
Against an aggressor like Nazi Germany however, when everything had been done to avoid war but it hadn't worked, then yes it is violence is justified, but only in a situation as extreme as that.

Of course. Some types of people will only react to violence. My cousin has been diagnosed Maniac Depressive, and Bi-Polar. He will not respond well, unless someone gets violent. Some wars that have been fought required it. For example WW II. We would have fallen to the German/Japanese alliance if we didn't respond with violence.

I lived a life of violence for many years,having been a bouncer and jiu-jitsu coach but now prefer to talk and communicate peacefully if possible :)

It is never acceptable to INITIATE violence.
To RESPOND to violence with violence, would be acceptable ONLY in circumstances where serious harm or death might surely ensue without intervention of that type.

I agree with you,if anyone was to hurt the ones i hold dear,then yes i wouldn't hesitate!!!

I haven't had to yet,someone was shouting at my kids last year in the street (neighbor in the street that annoys just about everyone!!) and i can tell you i had a few choice words for her i can tell ya!!!!

Not really..but I feel like there are times when someone NEEDS the sh*t beat out of them. It really doesnt help the situation, because you may go to jail....BUT you may get some satisfaction out of it.....as long as its a man, and not a woman. If its a woman, just break up with her or get a divorce.*
