This is a bit beyond me, but off the top of my head - isn't Newton, behind the original calcs used to find Gravitational forces, the acceleration of gravity, and the Newton is the unit of measure for force.

Newton Gravity law basically states that everyyhing that hoes up must come down.
Well, actually he developed a formula based on the concept of acceleration .And the relationship between two masses which are brought together by gravity which he called force.
Keppler by observation developped the relationship between two revolving masses such as sun-planet motion.
He determined that the time(period) squared of a planet revolves around the sun is directly proportional to the distance between them cubed.The proportionality constant is equals to the t product of mass of the sun and Newtons Gravity constant.
This is how Newton Law of gravitational force is related.New ton calculated that constant from Keppler's formula.

Kepler deduced his laws "experimentally" by studying measurements. From Newton's law of gravity you can mathematically prove Kepler's laws.
