new property. They are heavy metal and about 2' x 3'. I'm not sure what to do with them. I don't want to just put them in the landfill. The recycler will not take them because they are plastic-coated.

I'd like to just give them to someone who could use them, but I don't even know what they are.

These grids are thicker and too wide to use in a closet. Also, they don't have the L-shape a closet shelf has.

CT, (how funny that's what I call me son)
I has thought of doing that, but I'll have to make sure I get up really early so that the waste guys don't pick them up in the am if no one gets them. They cruise through here EARLY!

A FLORIST'S SHOP! I'll bet they are racks from a cooler for a florists shop! I think the people who own this house (a couple of owners back) own a gift/floral shop!

I think they are large versions of this type of shelves.

they sound like a freezer or fridge rack, maybe some sort of restaurant showcase.or from the local bakery.

they are big enough to cut them and weld them back into any thing you want.

There is a type of shelving that's made out of plastic coated metal grids that's about that size. Are there any other pieces that are angled bars that go underneath the shelving?...one end of the bar is angled at a 45 degree angle, and the other end of the bar would hold up the outer edge of the shelf. There would also be small plastic or metal brackets that are nearly (but not quite) flush with the wall (screwed into the wall) that would hold up the wall side of the shelf. You might have some shelving that you don't necessarily want to part with.

By the way, if you determine that it's shelving, you can buy the wall brackets and bars separately if you wanted the shelves. I got mine at Home Depot.

Your description makes me think they may be shelves for storage or even in a wet environment such as a greenhouse. Not sure if you have a Freecycle in your area but you should not have a problem getting rid of them. If you wish, you could type in Freecycle.com and add your towns name. Really great organization for keeping things out of the landfills and no sales are allowed, just give aways.

sounds like they may have been some closet shelving at one time. Be creative, make your own shelving out of them, books, clothes, shoes, etc.

Maybe if you just left them on pavement [sidewalk if you're in US] someone is bound to take them away. We did this with 2x2seater couches and they disappeared overnight!
