Why does salt water heat slower than freshwater?

because the salt water is denser.

I shouldn't think it does; saltwater does boil freeze at a lower temperature and boil at a higher temperature, but it wouldn't have a significantly different heat capacity (the rate of temperature change from a given heat input).
