I clicked on Jul instead of Jun and because it's a nonrefundable ticket, American Airlines will not give me my money back so I can buy a new ticket. And in order to change the reservation I have to pay a $100change fee. Is there anyway around this?

By the way, $100 is an awful lot of money to me especially as a cost of clicking the wrong button. My mistake but I feel it's too much.

Call the aa.com helpdesk at 1-800-222-2377. Tell them exactly what you stated here. If you're travelling on the same dates but just got the month wrong, they ought to be able to waive the change fee for that. If they say no, ask to speak to a supervisor. I think that if you explain the situation to them, they'll waive the change fee. I once had a similar experience and was successful in getting them to waive it.

Be sure to call the aa.com helpdesk though, not the regular American Airlines number. The helpdesk is 1-800-222-2377.

Good luck.

If you happen to booked the wrong date, you can have the airline or your travel agent void the tickets if this happen within 24 hours. For example if you book the tickets last night then they can still void it until 1159PDT today. But if it's more than 24 hours then the airline is imposing those fees already. There is no way to waive those fees especially if you made the error yourself. The best option would be to change it and hope that the new fare is lower so you can use the residual amount towards the change fee.

yes, if you JUST bought it, they should give you a full refund (minus some service charge). I know travelocity does this (the service charge is $5 you get everything else 100% back) but you have to call them right away - usually less than 24 hours. which site you booked through, that's the key, if you booked directly at american airlines they should change it for you!!!!! especially since you don't even want a refund, you just need it changed, they are still getting their money... Call them in great distress and tell them that you JUST booked it on the internet and you didn't have your glasses on and didn't see that it was jul instead of jun. tell them you love their airline/website and you're a loyal customer (if you are :) )and you're inconsolable this happened to you. (you can try to ask to speak to a supervisor) Again, don't wait, you have to do this right away. If they don't budge you have to pay the $100 but tell them you will never use that website again, and they are loosing a customer.

Sorry, nothing you can do but pay the fee to change your date.

True, you made a mistake and resent having to pay but that's why they let you review your itinerary and dates so you can double check before you click the "buy/accept" button.

If they didn't charge a fee then everyone would be changing dates willy-nilly.

I am not sure. Try to go on that time. It sounds like you wont get your money back.
