"Wicked" was very enjoyable, but you have to be a good reader. If you don't have STRONG analytical skills, you might find Wicked a little boring. My girlfriend tried to read it, but she isn't a very strong reader, and admitted she was getting confused. I picked it up and LOVED it. I told her what was happening as I read it and she enjoyed the story too.

I am sorry, but I haven't read the sequel.. However, the son was in the first book and I didn't find him to be a very compelling character.

I would say Wicked is better. It has a full, rounded out plot that concludes at the end of the story. In Son of A Witch, it takes Liir FOREVER to get no where and the story is never really resolved. Also, the end leaves you going, "WHAT?" I think Maguire is really setting up for a third book in the series.

Wicked, hands down. It's really rare for me to not finish a book and I didn't finish Son of a Witch. I just couldn't stay interested.

"Wicked" was MUCH better than "Son of a Witch". I was stoked to read "Son...: after "Wicked" but was gravely disappointed by the boring lifeless plot and loose ends.

Anyone can be a son of a witch. It is a term that is loosely used nowadays to identify anyone that we just don't like for one reason or another. Wicked insinuates pure evil.
