You simply must read The Tenderness of Wolves by Stef Penney. It's the 2006 Costa Award winner. It has murder mystery, romance, suspense, surprises nicely spread out along the way, and the loveliest of landscape, set in the Canadian winter of 1867.

You might like "Monsoon" by Wilbur Smith. It is a real page turner.
From the back cover: "A masterful tale of action and suspense set on the high seas, in arid deserts and steaming jungles... Clever plot twists and lavish historical detail...A smooth blend of adventure and romance, the novel is an atmospheric trip through the fierce mysteries of the Dark Continent and the Arabian seas."
"Once a voracious adventurer, it has been many years since Hal Courtney has dared the high seas. Now he must return with three of his sons - Tom, Dorian, and Guy - to protect the East India Trading Company from looting pirates, in exchange for half of the fortune he recovers. Riding the wind-tossed seas toward Arabia and Africa, a dangerous, exhilarating, epic adventure will begin, pitting brother against brother, man against the sea, and good against evil."

Hmm, this is a tough one. Dracula by Bram Stoker, Frankenstein my Mary Shelley, Definitely Anne Rice's Vampire Chronicles, and Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte.

Oh My God, Please read 'Twilight' by Stephanie Meyers. Its about this girl that falls in love with this guy, but he turns out to be a vampire....Oh, its so good! My flatmate introduced me to this book, and I spent the whole time I was reading it going 'ohhhhh!', and kinda melting inside. Its nice coz it has a bit of adventure/thriller/scaryness, but its so well written and a bit of romance, too.

I highly recommend Nora Roberts' Circle Trilogy. The series is paranormal romance, mostly of the vampire kind. It's one of her best works to date. I loved it!
