I started using Depo-Provera injections in April of 2002 and used it steadly until December of 2006. In Feburary 2007 my December injection would have run it course and be in need of a renewal (which I did not recieve).
It is now May of 2007 and still have not gotten my period. How long before I begin to flow again?
When should I be concerned?
P.S. My doc is a quak and can not answer a damn thing.

I was on depo for almost 9 years. It took almost a year for me to start getting my period again. I now get it and it is very irregular. I also only spot. I haven't had a heavy period yet since i started getting it back. I have been off of depo for about 2 years now. My doctor said it is okay and that I shouldn't worry. And I am not complaining because after not having my period for almost 9 years I really didn't want it back to begin with!

Some women take like 2 years to get normal periods again. It usually takes about 6mos.-1yr. though. Talk to a different doc. If you aren't trying to get preggers you can go on a different BC. If you are wait it out, or they can put on you fertility drugs, or something to help regulate you. I don't know the name of the meds, but I am in a similar situation. I got the shot one time in october, and still haven't gotten a real period. I have had spotting and cramping though. I just posted a question about it too! My doc said to give it a while longer before he puts me on anything to help me get pregnant.

Glad you did not get another depo shot... You should also get a bone density check done (doctor told me after five years you would need a bone density check as it messes with your bone health).

It may take up to a year to get your periods back. Or you could get on the pill until your periods are regular.

Find another doctor if he/she won't answer your questions or help you!!!

#1... get a new doctor

Mine came back within 3 months after stopping it. I would give it a month or so (unless you are trying to conceive) and then find a new doctor.
