a regular letter goes up to 41 cents on May 14, however the post office is starting to look at the shape and size of letters. i.e. if you're sending out a wedding invitation or a graduation announcement that is square (usually 6" X 6") you'll have to pay a non machinable surcharge (17 cents) Also, if the letter is considered a flat it'll be 80 cents.

Currently, the cost of first class postage for a one ounce letter is 39 cents. As of May 14, the cost will be 41 cents. You can purchase a "Forever Stamp" for 41 cents that is "guaranteed to be good for first class postage no matter how much the rates rise in the future

The standard postage is now 37 cents. I heard that it will go up to 41 cents this summer.
