Sounds to me like your boyfriend thinks of you as his possession, miss. He sees a day when you 2 are married, and he does whatever he wants while you cook and clean and take care of Junior (if you're lucky, that's what he'll insist on naming him) and he goes hunting and knocking back a six pack every night and comes home for a little fun n games. Sounds like your friend is upset that he is not first on your list of friends. You should probably talk to him and help him to understand that it's not really about first or second - it's the relationship. Help him to understand that he is important to you and how you view your friendship.

Not rank your friends. Yes, you may be closer to one friend than another, but always refer to your closest friends as "one of my best friends." You don't have to have just one best friend, you can have several best friends.

stay just friends with him (unless you wanna be best friends with him) and tell him that he'll make more friends. and you dont HAVE to have a best friend. it's not like it's essential. trust me, he's not going to die without a BFF.
