If you take the Party out of office that promotes it, then restore the legislature they removed to protect all Americans it will most likely go away like the Nuclear threat of the 50's. I didn't build a ridiculous BOMB SHELTER, when you can't survive a Nuclear Holocaust anyway. The fallout alone will kill you.
You might take note that the Vietnamese never followed the Americans home after the Vietnam war did they?

Extremist ideology is not just an idea held within middles eastern society. Terrorism can be found in the genocide in Darfur, East Timor among any others. The middles eastern conflict gets much more press because of the involvement of the USA.
Every nation breeds its own terrorist. Every religious group has it's extremes. As do many political and even social organizations.
Terrorism isn't a new idea, it has been around since the inception of mankind, historically we have given it different names. The crusades, inquisition, holocausts, genocides, ethnic cleansing all acts of terror. You cannot kill the ideals the motivate extremism. It is something we will be living with for a very long time.

You can't kill an ideal, but you can kill everyone who believes in that ideal. The ideal in question is Islam.
The question is, are you up for the genocide of something like a fifth of the world's population? If not, then, yes you'll just have to live with terrorism that will continue untill the terrorists win - hopefully, for a very long time, indeed.

If you mean the ideal that, at that one second before the explosion goes off, is in their head, yes. Just kill them.
If you mean the greater ideal that caused them to feel part of a larger cause, then why? Simply incorporate a method of attaining that aspect of the human experience into their lives. Take the stoning of evil, for example. All those people go round and round, tossing land fill at a rock, symbolizing that they have to endure more injustices when they return home. - They were able to experience the feeling of stoning evil, yet had no real consequences in their lives. Neat trick. Imagine if they ever got into a walmart. Whoa!!!
A pluralistic view of motivation.

The only terrorists around are not those who fight for a cause, for freedom, for justice, for peace, but rather, those that don't have any ideal to defend, who have nothing to lose, and who condemn those that do. The terror in it all is that you ignorant and conceitedly arrogant fools actually believe what it is you speak of and take every word uttered on television to be true and accurate. It is not some armed man in a remote area of the world that scares me, it is the horde of sheep that condemn that man and all his kind to discrimination and ultimately to imprisonment, torture and certain death.
You keep believing every word that imperialist pigs keep shitting from their mouths, and see how this will bring about the downfall of human civilization, one race at a time.

Yes.
I thought nobody would ever ask!
If you made this war a holy war against Allah, he would be exposed as weakling-nobody (because he doesn't exist and can't defend himself or enforce his edicts) and his army of lunatic humans would be muted and defeated.
Here is an example of a really effective action that can be taken.
Tell the radical Muslim terrorists that after the next act of terrorism committed by them in the name of Allah (and Allah knows who they are and what they do) the USA will desecrate Mecca with a million pounds of pork offal (that's guts and blood and flesh)...and Allah will know who's account its on.
If they commit another such act...you do it.
Allah will not be able to respond (because he doesn't exist).
And those who would respond with a further act of terror would be responsible for a further act of desecration.
At the bottom of this strategy is the Muslim people will not stand for those among them who would purposely bring this desecration upon their shrines etc. and they will turn on those whom they harbor and help.
It also undermines the stupidity and absurdity of divine orders, and religion in general, when Allah cannot defend himself and enforce his edicts.

That seems to be the best way to combat terrorism. If they can no longer rationalize being terrorists, then they won't be! I think reforming the way the Middle East perceives the US is the best way to achieve this. Killing more terrorists just keeps fueling the fire.

No. Did you know that when they were trying to figure out what to call the "war on terror," they very deliberately didn't call it a "war on terrorism" because of that very fact?
It's amazing how this country is so willing to buy into semantics.

Yeah you have to somehow find a way to stop them from practicing their religion... oh wait that is totally impossible, so maybe we should send an army to fight a person to person war? There is no way. The more babies they make, the more terrorists they create, it's not going away.

yes, through education. quite a few in the ME are uneducated, poor and tribal still. outside forces have tried to change that through force and occupation. terrorism has been around a very long time and not just in the ME or by muslims.
