I LOVE IT! It's the BEST NAME EVER! I am so glad my parents went with Linda and not Amanda like they were thinking. Linda is not just a beautiful name, but actually means "beautiful or pretty" in Spanish. You can't get much better than that! I love my name! Linda Lou is just my nickname, my real name is Linda Marie Lastname. (surname begins with L.)

When I was a kid I insisted for awhile that my name be spelled with a "y" as in Lynda. I soon realized it really didn't matter though, it's a great name no matter how you spell it!

It's much less common for girls these days though. It's disappearing right along with Sandra and Wendy and many others. Too bad.

When I think of Lynda, I think of one of my friends. She's tall, blonde, skinny, beautiful, kind, caring, great with kids and all around someone I'd like to be.

To me 'Lynda' doesn't sound old. I associate that name with a good, kind hearted soul.

My middle name is Robyn, I alway hated it. I used to get picked on for having a boys name for a middle name. Things can alway be worse.

I think names are like how people look, everyone feels they have some problem with what they've got.

Try not to worry about it, Lynda is a nice name. If you really don't like it you can use your middle name, change your name or go by a different version or nick name. I know someone called Max that everyone calls George, it was something I started off years ago as a kid, mucking around, that stuck, everyone called him that and no one knew for years how he got the name : )

I think it's a pretty name, and the spelling is more unique than the traditional Linda. You could always use your middle name, or shorten Lynda to Lyndie or Lynne. My sister really dislikes her name too- Janis- so she'd likely sympathize with you. I never considered Lynda to be redneck.....but it was more popular in the 1950's and 60's, so it may be a bit old fashioned, depending on your age.

how can u feel ugly with a name that means pretty / beautiful. Lynda is a good name, comes from solid "stock". you are who you make yourself, takes on your reflections not the other way around. So be yourself and learn to love yourself so others can do the same. from a Linda...

While it's not a favorite of mine, Lynda is a perfectly nice name. I especially like your spelling of it.

I don't care for the name Lynda however I do like what it means: in Spanish it means pretty, and in German it means weak, tender and soft. Never be ashamed of your name girl!!!!!!
