The girl was a customer at an icecream store i am working. She had a good body just a little work on her tummy seems to be needed. I just said that she needs to be on a diet. And when she blushed i realized that she was hurt. Instantly i apologized and said not to take it negatively. She filed a complaint and later brought her mother as well who asked what i said. Can they sue me?

They should be thanking you. Some people don't realize how fat they have gotten until it's too late. She will be grateful later.

1 How old are you? How old were you when you started breaking out? I'm 18 now. I started breaking out when I was 16. Never really had much acne before then. 2 Is your skin always clear, do you get spots sometimes, or do you almost always have a breakout? I get pimples near my period. I usually get one of two somewhere around my mouth, and maybe the odd one around my forehead. They usually clear up once my period's done though. 3 What face wash do you use? Clean and Clear Morning Burst (the purifying one in the blue bottle). 4 Do you use face masks or scrubs or anything? What kind? I use St. Ives products for this. I use their clay firming mask at night (sometimes I skip it, but I try to do it quite a few nights a week). I also use their Apricot scrub once or twice a week. 5 What brand make up do you wear? What do you wear (foundation, concealor?, ect) Just drug store brands. I like Maybelline and Cover Girl products. I change the brand I use frequently because I'm looking for the best product for my skin (most of the best products I've used are Cover Girl). 6 How much makeup do you wear? Usually just concealer, foundation, and a bit of mascara. Sometimes some eyeshadow too. 7 What spot treatments do you use? Clean and Clear Persa-Gel 5. I put that on any pimples before I go to bed. 8 Do you eat junk food or healthy? I eat both healthy foods and junk food. Probably a bit too much junk food, but oh well. I also drink a lot of water. Water's a big help.

Wow! Do you not have enough self control and would actually say to a complete stranger, while you are working that she needs to go on a diet? Keep your comments to yourself. First off, it's rude. Secondly, while you are at work, you are representing the company for which you are working. Everything you do and say is a reflection on the company. If you worked for me, I would fire you. Statistics show that a customer who has a good experience with a business may tell 1 or 2 people. A customer who has a bad experience will tell 10 people. Multiply that by the number of people those people will tell and look how much potential business the company stands to loose. Going further, it's probably better that you concentrate on your job, instead of verbally evaluating the figures of the women that come by.

They are just trying to intimidate you by a show of force. You have a right to an opinion. When someone uses you, they have to have a pretty good reason, some money and they have to know that you have deep pockets too, otherwise what is the point of suing you. If the person is not internationally known or something you have not hurt their "reputation" or any other such nonsense people use to sue someone. Don't be so free with your opinions at work, not a good idea, but otherwise don't worry about it.

you can pretty much sue anyone for anything in todays world but that's not usually the route people would take.. more than likely they would just try to get you fired lol.. why would you EVER tell a woman she needs to go on a diet? When it comes to women and weight they are always perfect.. even if they hint and beg and ask you to tell them the "truth" .. it just means they are feeling insecure about their weight and want to make sure you really do think they look good..... NEVER TELL A WOMAN TO GO ON A DIET... .... honestly.. unless the boss really likes you.. I'd start looking for a new job.. just incase.

You should not be worrying about lawsuits. You should be learning what it takes to hold a job. Your comment was rude and uncalled for, and no amount of apologizing and saying not to take negative comments negatively will make up for your faux pas. In future, never make any personal comments to any customer. It is none of your business. If they haven't fired you over this, you are incredibly lucky. Don't blow it.

are you serious? lmao! say sorry and that you really didn't mean it. i dont think they should be able to sue you just because you said that. you didn't physically hurt her, did you? be a little more aware of other people's feelings next time. this however, was able to bring me to laugh! :)

I do not know if you can be sued or not. But what gives you the right to talk to people like that? Are you always that rude? I hope you were fired.

No, they could sue the store, but the store will just fire you. In the future, keep your comments to yourself. We ladies don;t care what you think we should do to look better to you. That isn't why god put us on this planet.

Of course not. You should be fired for attempting to discourage a customer, though.

I doubt they can sue you, but some bosses would've fired you.
