Hugo Chavez, who was re-elected as president of Venezuela by a wide margin last month, has said he will enact sweeping reforms to remake Venezuela into a socialist state. Among his plans are nationalizing the main telecommunications company and the electricity and natural gas sectors. He also said he will tax the rich by enacting taxes on luxury automobiles, private yachts, and second homes, and use the money for government social programs.

Sounds like the bunch we just put in Congress here in this country. Wait a year or two. You will see the resemblance. -- Rod Hefner

For the same reason people are called names for pointing out the fascist direction the USA has taken in the last 6 years.

And I have not heard Congress espouse any of this,
"nationalizing the main telecommunications company and the electricity and natural gas sectors. He also said he will tax the rich by enacting taxes on luxury automobiles, private yachts, and second homes, and use the money for government social programs."

Could you name a source please?

both the Dem's' and re pubs' can hardly ever agree on something even at the same time as they pick an similar mission. till you bypass to c-span you received't see a lot coverage of 0.33 social gathering applicants. tremendous organizations make huge contributions to applicants they help, you're restricted in how a lot you could donate to a candidate personally. organizations set up committees and communities to help and fund applicants. the recent financial disaster rules were written with the help of the banking marketplace for congress to make into regulation and it bit them contained in the butt. the different mission is that some human beings vote for a million social gathering perpetually, both because they help that social gathering perpetually and have self belief it really is the purely social gathering to do whats excellent,or they're upset with the different social gathering for some reason. both activities pick it their way and could compromise some to get their way. If what I examine on the internet very last evening is even 0.5 real, this election received't count number besides. If we've yet another attack like 9/11 or a significant disaster earlier the elections F.E.M.A . will take administration and George Bush will develop into the real ability of authorities. If it occurs after the elections and earlier the recent president takes place of work,i do not recognize what's going to take position. G.W. signed an govt order for the continuity of authorities and F.E.M.A. will take over and droop the structure and the President commonly is the team spirit govt. Congress and the finest court docket will nonetheless exist yet would have little or no voice, the President has the finest say in all concerns. there develop into also yet another website speaking about the formation of the North American Union (Canada,U.S. and Mexico forming a union like the E.U. and the U.S. structure will be lengthy previous.

Hey dumb girl, did you know that the Republicans only ran congress for 6 out of the last 46 years. Yeah that is right, during your beloved Reagan admin dems were there controlling his actions. They even controlled most of Clintons actions until Republicans started a smear campaign because he got a BJ in the oval. So in the last 40 years have you seen us go to socialism? What a stupid question. Why not ask something intelligent for once.

I doubt very seriously that the Venezuelan rich are going to miss their money after they pay their taxes. Also, unlike a certain someone, at least Hugo Chavez was elected by an overwhelming majority. (Democracy is great, isn't it?) I can't help but think that you don't know what it's like to be poor, because if you did, you would know how important it is to have a safety net.

First of all, Chavez was reelected in December, not last month. Second, nothing remotely like what he is doing in Venezuela is happening in the US.

If people are calling you names it's because your facts are wrong.

Political views span a spectrum. You're trying to stigmatize a political party by equating it with the extreme position. The Democratic party isn't the socialist party. It's just slightly to the left of where your party is. I'm sure you would object vociferously should I equate your party with anarchists.

chavez is not a US politician, but he does help some poor Americans,so i don't view him as all bad. America is strong because it is a mix of socialism and capitalism. i don't call others names, i outgrew the playground mentality long ago. wish all here would.
