It seems obvious to me (?) that ever since `they` allowed the `F` Word on TV that standards have gone down everywhere, really, it cannot be ignored, the trouble is that when you speak to `they`, `they` say, " well, we allow it as its now so widely used" same goes for radio, `they` allow rap records with swearing, and `bleep` out or `silence` the word, which encourages the younger generation to go out, buy it and chortle over the swearing at home, then copy it.
Now, the point is this, there IS a need for swearing, there always has been in the english language, especially the `F` word, AND, i swear, BUT, importantly, there is a time and a place for it, and the High street, out loud is not the place, at ANY time, there are people, believe it or not, who do not wish to hear it in public, or find it embarrassing when heard in front of their small children, as said, i aint no prude, but i think there is a link.... wadddaya think guys?

Absolutely true and it is not just Radio and TV it is music, movies, various forms of entertainment such as Stand Up Comedy and the Internet.

While I do not agree that there is “IS a need for swearing,” I will concede that it has always existed. However, it was usually relegated to appropriate times and places and not used in every day public speech.

It, swearing, is a symptom of the overall moral decline in society.

I think there is a connection especially the way hooliganism, drinking etc is glamorised in some films and programmes, but as far as i know there is no swearing in programmes before the watershed so if a child is seeing programmes after this time then you can't really blame the TV company. Same said of the radio, as you have said yourself, they bleep out the swear words, so the blame really lies with the musician. So can it possibly be said that TV and radio are actually taking action to protect the young and preserve our morals?

Hmm... you sound like Jerry Falwell.

To be honest, it doesn't bug me. Perhaps because I'm from an area where foul words are common place. Sure, some may be rude or vulgar, but they have become part of mainstream society. If you watch Japanese Television after 8pm their time, cartoons even curse. They seem to be ok.

I don't think morals HAVE declined. Look at any time frame and in any place in the world, and I can assure you that wherever you look, where there was rich there was corruption and greed, where there was poverty there was crime, prostitution and so on.

The only way mankind has changed since he has come out of a cave is technologically.

10 years ago "they" didn't allow the F word and people were saying then about our declining morals.

I can take this back centuries.

The fact of the matter is "mankind" such as it is is evolving....some of it's good...some not so good.

Seriously, why does a tone of sound bother you so much? It can only "harm" you if you allow it to do so.
