SAP stands for systems, applications and products (in data processing)
They are the leaders in ERP (enterprise resource planning ) software.
They also make other softwares like CRM, SRM, SCM etc.
Recently they have stepped up with the launch of their Netweaver platform.

In simple terms, SAP is the software used by companies. No use for it at home.

program i've used when i worked in warehouse.. keep track of orders , inventory management, costs, suppliers etc. plant management .. way i used it at my work we could look up a part number on "mmbe" screen would tell us quantity of that part we had in house.. mdo4 sceen would tell us if was an inhouse part or purchase part, where we would get that part from (the supplier) sap keeps track of what orders need to be started, at what stage in assembly they are at, all that kinda stuff..
