I've seen it in several movies, the tycoon always has a fancy glass bottle with similar cups somewhere near his desk. It's a yellowish color, and obviously an alcoholic beverage.

Some examples I of movies I've seen it in:
Who Framed Roger Rabbit?
Lex Luthor's mansion in Smallville
Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest

Most likely you are thinking of a means of storage not a beverage.

My mother used to keep a decanter of red wine on this fancy bar we had The decanter lid had a plastic cork to keep air out The bottle was about 1 and 1/2 foot tall and was 70's amber in color.

My grandfather had a decanter where he kept the good scotch.

Probably a fine Scotch. Johnnie Walker Blue! Nothing better. $200 a bottle. Go have some fun.

Sounds like a Martinin; shaken, not stirred.

Although in Deadman's Chest believe the drink of choice was Rum.

My guess is probably bourbon. It seems like a very gentlemanly drink.
If not it's scotch.
Except in Pirates of the Caribbean it's probably rum.
