How is it we can allow for a new staff of leaders to run our country (into the ground in some cases) who have clear ties to oil (Cheney was CEO of Halliburton, Bush ties through Zapata companies, all of which are profiting from delaying alternative energies, ending war in Iraq, etc.) or war machine manufacturers (Bush Family - i.e. Bush sr. is board member of United Defense - they made hundreds of millions of Iraq), drug companies (Rumsfeld - convinced Reagan to fire and replace Food and Drug Administrator - launched Apartame aka NutraSweet and had it reclassified from a drug to a food additive - He was the CEO), etc.
It's just not right. It doesn't end there either. Honesty and itegrity seem to go out the window all too often. I believe a candidate for President should be better fitted for the job, someone who doesn't have huge personal gain.

A - Why do we let this happen
B - What if anything can we do about it?
C - Anything similar you can bring to the table

Let me clarify, not... why they are allowed to profit... I'm not dumb, I realize there are stipulations with regard to their stock, etc. Of course there are a million way around that (no pun intended). What I meant was - Why do we put people like that into positions where they are inclined to make decisions which will effect the rest of us, based on their obvious personal interests. Anybody who doesn't believe that Bush, Cheney and others aren't making hundreds of millions for themselves, their partners, their benefactors, their familes, their friends... has got their heads in the sand, plain and simple.

A. We let this happen because half the country falls for the bull, while the other half is too lazy and busy protesting to get out and vote against the president.

B. We can't do much about it right now, just make sure you vote democrat in 09.

Where to start.

1.Bush is a board member of United Defense.

Rumsfield canceled the largest military contract that United Defense had, for the Crusader Artillery Vehicle. That hurt their stock value so much, the company was sold to BAE.

Yep, sure seems like someone made a killing.........lol

2.Cheney was CEO of Halliburton.

So you think the government gave halliburton contracts just because Cheney used to be the CEO ?

Then explain KBR's contract to build the Cam Ran Bay port during Vietnam. Explain the no bid contracts Halliburton got in the Balkins in the 90's.

Where is all the money Cheney supposedly made ? His tax returns are public.

But we know for sure, that Liberal George Soras has made a killing from Halliburton stock.

3.Bush made money off of delaying alternative energy.

Again, bush's tax returns are public, so wheres the money he supposedly made.?

4. Rumsfield convinced Reagan to Fire the FDA commissioner.

Every preisdent appoints a new FDA commissioner, johnson did, nixon did, carter did, reagan did, clinton did.

No FDA commissioner was fired, carters fda commissioner left with Carter.

Are you going to Blame Clinton for the FDA approving Aspartame for use in non carbonated beverages, baked goods, and confections in 1993, or for removing all restrictions in 1996 ???

.
Some facts would be nice.

You make alot of alligations, but provide no facts to back anything up.

And the things you do announce as fact, like Reagan firing the FDA commissioner, just wern't true.

Evidently you feel like no business person should ever be President or come to work for the government.

What do you want, lawyers and career politicians only ???

I'd much rather have someone who held a real job, than someone who has been in Politics their whole life.

Republicans are anti american it really is that basic. I keep in concepts democrats and independents turning out to be a member of with Bush after 9/11 to strive against terror. they might have surely savaged him and had him impeached in the journey that they chosen to because the evidence develop into there. he no longer purely did not act in time yet he skipped over safe practices briefs that reported in basic OBL determined TO STRIKE. They failed many times. they even brought concerning the debt ceiling give way and the wall highway give way. they might to boot brought concerning the deaths of 3000 human beings and countless others in iraq and to suitable all of it off iraq and iran at the prompt are allies. that would want to not in any respect had occurred had saddam nonetheless been in ability. and that i examine their inner memo to handling Obama and it stated that they ought to "strive against him on each and every thing," they concept this develop right into a good theory in the course of the worst economic disaster contained in the historic previous of the country which they brought about. they're un american.

The thing to do is forbid all lobbyist for starters, next stop the big money flowing into campaign funds.

I agree but think the problem is more pervasive than the Bush/Cheney connection. I think an overwhelming number of politicians financially benefit from their positions.

Your premise is incorrect. They are not profiting from the war.

Sounds like a spurious, "Tokyo Rose" style canard to me.

If there's proof, post it.
