State laws are stepping up ticket laws for not wearing a seat belt when we still send kids to school everyday on a bus without any?

Because side impact accidents in a car or truck (which can easily be turned over) will most definitely injure a child. Having been in both a car accident and a bus accident you'd be surprised just how much a bus absorbs. Here in Atlanta I think there should be seat belts for buses just because when you're on the interstate there's the risk of a collision with an 18 wheeler. Now that would be sure to kill anyone, bus or no. As for the laws regarding children and seat belts in the car, if they didn't uphold those laws then there would be infants, toddlers, and every other little kid bouncing around in the backseat (or front) with no belt on. The laws should be upheld--as a mother it scares me to think if those laws were not there. Regarding adults, you've still got parents and/or people that love you. Imagine if you were taken away from something so stupid as not wearing a belt. You'd be selfish not to wear it. The whole "it's my risk to take" argument a lot of people have is just silly. If you have a passenger in the car and your un-belted body smacks them, you could break bones, cause injuries, and even break his/her neck if you're in the backseat.

I've heard it said that they are actually safer without them. Like in case the bus caught on fire, they'd get out easier. But that sounds like a bunch of bull.
