Yes, all planets in the Solar System are capitalized. The word 'earth' is not capitalized when used as a common noun (that is to say meaning dirt), but when used as a planet name it too is capitalized. The names of all the moons and the Sun are also capitalized, and again, our Moon is called the Moon when we're talking about it but other moons are called moons with no capital when you use the common noun 'moon' (they also have their own names, like Titan and Ganymede and Phobos and so on).
In short, yes.

Yes. Planets, Satellites, etc.
Sun is our sun.
A sun (meaning any star) is a common word (as in: all these stars are so many suns...).
Moon is our moon.
but, Jupiter has four Galilean moons.
(moon used in the sense of satellite)
Earth is a planet. earth is the soil mix in which I plant carrots. As in black earth.
Our Galaxy (the Milky Way) gets a capital G -- some authors go even as far as using a capital G for the adjective: Galactic when talking about our Galaxy. The others are galaxies (small g despite their "galactic proportions").
The Local Group (big G) of galaxies include our Galaxy. We may, far in the future, merge with the Virgo cluster (a larger group -- small g); by then, we should write about our Cluster (but that is a while away).
Following these "rules", we should say: We have found three hot jupiters around that star (to indicate gas giants that are in orbits very close to their "suns").
However, I admit that it is very easy to find papers and articles where the "rules" are not followed.

All planets except for earth, except when earth is used in a list of planets. All other planets are named after gods, except for earth, therefore they are capitalized.

yes....because they are proper nouns. and proper nouns are always capitalized just like our names :) a PERSON is a common noun and that person's name need be capitalized because it is a proper noun.
Proper nouns (also called proper names) are nouns representing unique entities (such as London or John), as distinguished from common nouns which describe a class of entities (such as city or person)

I believe so, unless you're saying "earth" and referring to the dirt that makes up our planet.
