Some Pc`s only have a Cd rom drive and will not handle dvd,
You need a dvd rom,these are pretty cheap and can be fitted in a short time.

1. a DVD Driver.
2. a DVD software to play DVD. (like WinDVD.)

Assuming you have a DVD drive, then download/install VLC from:
http://www.videolan.org/vlc/
It can play DVDs. In fact it can play just about anything. And its free!

as sugested, make sure you have a DVD drive. then you will need a software decoder such as windvd or cyberlink power dvd to play movies

be sure that you have a dvd drive if not you will not beable to play dvd's
