I've heard others mentioning this glitch. I succeeded after about 6 tries, but didn't get that message, so I was probably doing something wrong. Perhaps it's down to too many trying to change their avatars at the same time. Who knows?? There's always some glitch or other.

Nah, mine fits. I always wear jeans even it the middle of summer in Texas. I am still in the kitchen everyday no matter what. I might find a short sleeve top or a tank top but that is about it.
