Actually September is one of the best months to go for the least amount of crowds.
There are two reasons why the crowds are usually so low during this time:
1). Most kids are back in school and since it is the beginning of the year, not every family is able to take kids out of school and such. So there will be fewer families, but in some cases there can be more people from Florida, adults, etc.
2). It is hurricane season. While Orlando usually doesn't have too much problems, they did a few years ago, which sort of slowed down the people from visiting during this time. If a hurricane is near, it can cause the weather to be a little bad, rainy, windy, etc. So a lot of people try to avoid it because of this as well.
So, normally September is a great month to go. However, since the bad weather with the hurricanes a few years ago, Disney has started to offer free dining during the end of August and most of September to try and bring back the people. This can mean large crowds, long waits, filled restaurants, etc. Disney continues to shorten the length of the promotion each year, which means more people are trying to go in a short time frame. There are people on the message boards and such that just wait all year for this promotion to come out.
There is no telling how busy it will be this year, I talked to my travel agent the other day and she said dining is booking up pretty fast, so I'm going to assume it will be moderately busy. I don't think it is going to reach peak season crowds, but it will more than likely be busier than it normally would be.
Have a great time!

Oh!! September is a great time to go!!! In fact we're taking my husband's family in September for the first time!!!
After Labor Day, the crowds die down quite a bit. Though, keep in mind, the Magic Kingdom is almost always busy, particularly on the weekends. But going on a Tuesday or Wednesday you should see significantly shorter lines.
Also, the Food and Wine Festival starts in Epcot towards the end of September, so if you're looking for smaller crowds... I'd stay away from Epcot then.
Animal Kingdom is typically the slowest of teh four parks, but is definately not to be missed. Going first thing in the morning is best though, the animals are more active, and the lines are even shorter!
I hope this helps!!! Have a great trip!

We went in September last year and everything was really great. The parks were not crowded, and we literally walked up and loaded on almost every single ride. The only ride i had to wait on was Expedition Everest, 15 min, but thats because it was new. The weather is great, a little bit of rain, but besides that I think Sept is a perfect time to go. Besides we asked a castmember two years ago when the best time was and she said "two weeks after labor day", thats when we went and we are going this year too. But monday is the most crowded for Magic kingdom.

It's very quiet in September and a great time to go. Just keep an eye on the weather; we're in the busiest part of hurricane season in late August-early September.

It shouldn't be too bad if you go after the kids in the UK have gone back to school. Ive just come back yesterday after 2 weeks and it was great, the most we had to queue on any rides at Magic Kingdom, Universal Studios or Islands of Adventure was 15 minutes! - Just check the weather for hurricans!

it really is a great time to bypass! We went for the time of previous due September/early October 2010 and the crowds were low. We were given to the parks early and walked perfect onto maximum rides or grabbed a quickly bypass for wait circumstances that were regularly round 20-0.5-hour. the only rides that were extra frustrating to get admission to were Toy tale, attempt music and Soarin. Toy tale ran out of quickly passes early into the day at Disney Hollywood Studios and we neglected that vacation, so get to that vacation first once you bypass to Disney Hollywood Studios. i imagine Soarin develop right into a 40 5 minute wait--we merely grabbed quickly passes. attempt music ran out of quickly passes through the time we confirmed as a lot as Epcot for better magic hours contained in the evening, it really is anticipated, yet a beneficiant forged member gave us some quickly passes even as me and my husband requested if there might want to be extra quickly passes for the evening hours. bypass ask a forged member once you're fairly fascinated in a customary vacation because you merely under no circumstances comprehend! keep an eye fixed on the elements considering that September and October fall in Florida's hurricane season. the elements for us develop into great besides the indisputable fact that---warmth adequate for our children to swim on the hotel yet not overwhelmingly humid like July and August. be particular to get tickets for Mickey's not So scary Halloween celebration at Magic Kingdom. This develop into my popular part of our vacation after we went. do not bypass over it! you've picked a great time to visit. have interesting!
