It doesn't seem to be human nature. Blame testosterone.

I believe the answer lies in the conflict between our two dissimilar natures. Every person has an animal like side and a human like side. We are born predators and are taught to behave in a civilized way. I am sure you believe that if you left a small child in the jungle with no human contact, he would grow up to be more animal like than gentlemanly.
The degree of success we parents have at forming our offspring into useful and humane people pretty much determines the fate of the world.

We consist of wonderful diversity. If we were to follow the golden rule - God's greatest commandment - we would all love each other unconditionally. Human nature is predisposed to instant gratification, and wanting more than we need. We have become spiritually bankrupt, allowing our shallow desires to determine our couse of action. For some, that means using violence to get our way, or our desires rather than having the patience to wait for God's rewards in His timing.
