My condolences on the loss of your mother. Do you belong to any church? Often church members will help out in an emergency like this.

What about a friend or neighbor? Would they be willing to drive you to Miss. if you share the driving chores and pay for gas?

Contact your local United Way and ask if they know of any organization which might lend a hand. I'm not sure where in Florida you live, but sometimes in a small town, the local paper might do a story about your plight which people will read and want to help. What about other family members? Can they give you money for gas to drive there? Surely someone is taking responsibility for mom's funeral, etc. They must want you there. Even a bus ticket would help.

I know this isn't the best answer, but finding money is a tough one. Getting food, shelter and/or clothing is actually easier.

Go straight to the local Catholic church and ask the priest for help. Their congregations are donating thousands of dollars and a small hand out is not going to hurt them. It is worth the try!

Hitchhike with a sign that says "Going to Mom's funeral"
I bet you get rides fast from compassionate drivers.
Make sure the sign is very readable - big letters clearly drawn
Dress clean-cut
