in the latest DS9 novels, Miles and his family are stationed on Cardassia to help with the rebuilding of the planet.
His wife has accepted a position with StarFleet to help the Cardassians with their plant-life and such. Miles has reluctantly agreed to go with her. They are also working with / in contact with Garak!!!

He is now the chief technology and environment correspondent for CNN. You will see him whenever there is activity involving the shuttle or issues about the environment or flying (he is a pilot.)
