Yes, and my electric bill is never more than $24 per month, even with one fluorescent light on all night covering the back yard to prevent burglaries.

The fluorescent light also helps with my SADS - the depression that comes during weeks of cloudy sunless days - learned that when living in the basement a decade ago.

The new much cheaper (around $1 each) circular, small profile bulbs that fit in all the old regular sockets are what motivated me to switch all my overhead formerly incandescent bulbs to fluorescent when buying this latest home in Dec 2005 - still use some incandescent but only for those lamps turned on for a few seconds at a time.

flourescents give me a headache, I prefer natural lighting. Sunshine, candle light, moonlight, much more flattering for most people.
