Tap the lid with either a tablespoon or the handle of a butterknife...You can also try hitting the bottom. If that doesn't work then break the jar! Hey, a gilr needs her salsa...

Tap the lid a couple of times with a spoon all the way around, then pat the bottom of the jar a few times. It should pop right open. That always seems to work for me.

Turn it upside down and smack the lid on the counter. Always works for me.
Mom always did hot water then used a towel to grip the lid to open. Also, smaking the edge of the lid with a butter knife handle works.

Run the lid under HOT HOT water...tap it on the counter...it SHOULD pop open then for ya.
Don't ya have one of those rubber grippy things to open jars?
