I hate it when anyone underestimates others abilities to do anything!

I have spent the last 27 years being a good parent tomy daughter -- no one underestimated me. in this respect. She turned out great and single handedly can take the credit(her father took off when she was 8 and never looked back). My parents were already dead and I raised this kid alone. It can be done but you have to put a lot of time and work into it.

Don't mean to gloat, but all i have ever heard from other people is just how good of parents me and my partner are..... i have never had anyone underestimate my capabilities of being a good parent, and can only imagine how frustrating that must be.

I do, especially when the person doing the underestimating is my own mother. Of course, I usually retort with something like "Well, if you were such a good mother, you wouldn't have to worry about me so much." I've come to the point where I just don't listen to it anymore.

Yes, but I don't need to defend myself. My parenting ability is very apparent in my 2 awesome kids. They are both teens now & I am so proud of the people they are growing up to be. Good parents - raise even better children!!!

Yeah, but then the ones that underestimate are usually the ones that don't have any children at all. They have no idea what they are talking about usually.

Yes I hate it. But I'm learning to keep my thoughts under control...before I would just lash out and strop my point at people. I KNOW I'm a good mum, and Beck knows it too so that's all that matters to me. People will always say/think/ do whatever they want, the trick is to learn how to shrug it off.

That's about one of the worst insults some1 can give you I think. I don't think they mean it but don't realize that they are doing it by giving their oppinion. (I'm talking about a INLAW in my family) she means well but hey! I'm doing pretty good w/my kids I think. I guess you just have to believe in your ability and ignore those who always think they know better than you! I'm sure you will always do what you think is in the best interest for your child(ren) as I always do. Good Luck! :)

YES!!! I can take constructive criticism well, but some people need to keep their mouths shut. Most people who say something negative are not even parents themselves or they are not good parents either.
