I have heared that there are some risks involved in this test. My cousin is considering to do this test but i was just checking to see if it would be ok for her to do it without problems.

CVS is considered to be fairly safe but it is an invasive procedure with some risks involved. 1 out of 100 CVS causes a miscarriage.

I would not get the test unless there was a life or death reason. Even if the test came back with a positive result for some disorder, what could your cousin do about it anyway while she's pregnant? Nothing. Just wait for baby to come and then offer treatment.

The same result as not getting the test and finding out soon after birth if there is a problem.

These tests cause a lot of needless worry and heartbreak for pregnant women esp. if they get a false positive.

My OB told me about this last Friday at my appt... because I'm 36, she said amnio and CVS were options for me (by insurance) to determine if there were problems with the baby. However, she said the same thing the poster above said- it was "risky" and could cause miscarriage. Having suffered 2 miscarriages in the last year and a half, there's no way I'm willing to risk this pregnancy- especially since it seems (knock on wood) to be going very well so far. If your cousin has had ANY miscarriages or problems carrying, there's no way I'd risk it- she may be sorry afterward and guilt like that is hard to be assuaged. Just my personal opinion from my personal ordeals. Good luck to her.

CVS try has no longer something to do with down's syndrome or something. this is an person-friendly swab from the exterior of the vagina to make sure in case you have a undeniable organic occuring micro organism on your vagina which could impression your toddler whilst it comes down the start canal. in case you do they provides you with some antibiotics earlier to the transport. it is not painful in any respect. my well being practitioner fairly gave me the attempt to that i did it myself at domicile, then surpassed it back in for the outcomes. mine got here back valuable, that's totally ok.
