Check ALL fliud levels, drain the oil replace with fresh. check the trans fluid and differential grease. FRESH gas, like MATT L said check for critters or their nests( fires arent cool) Also remove the air cleaner, ckeck for foreign objects in the carb. Check th plugs also, its kinda hard on a Vette, but ya gotta have a good spark, also remove the ignition shielding around the distributor, and check the cap and rotor. Once you get it running, on to the brakes, replace the worn pads and check the hoses for leaks, it may take a couple of trys to get all the air out of the lines. Hope this helps and good luck. Enjoy your Corvette!

There are a couple things you want to check.

Remove all the mice, rabbits and critters from it.
There may be some dry rot of some of the seals in the engine, check all the plastic/rubber pieces and replace those that are cracked.
Change ALL fluids and lube
Change ALL belts
Empty gas tank, fill with new gas
Get a new battery
Full tune-up, change wires, plugs, etc...

I would do alot of this before trying to fire it up.

if it has been sitting that long, drain and change all the fluid (oil, antifreeze, brake fluid, winshield wiper fluid, etc). examine the engine and exhaust making sure no mice or squirrels have turned your car into a home (if you dont and you start it, you may cause a fire). If it needs new brakes, its easy to do yourself, just buy some break shoes at a local automotive store. there are plenty of how to directions online. make sure none of the wires have been chewed on by any critters- that too could spark a fire. and lastly, make sure your lights work, and your tires arent dry rotted. replace if needed. and then JUST HAVE FUN!
