How about:

2 K + 2 H2O ===> 2 KOH + H2

Ca + 2 H2O ====> Ca(OH)2 + H2

Alkaline metals will react with water at r.t. to produce the corresponding hydroxide and hydrogen.
Others metals react only with steam (for example Ca and Mg)

Please do not do this at home, it's quite dangerous, you risk a hydrogen explosion and soda(for example for the Na metal) splashing which will burn your chlothes and your skin.
