Hes a ford mechantic and has been for 5 years now hes 22 years old in feb 2008 , He's got to the point where he just hates anything to do with mechantics now. What do you think he could do now...he said he doesn't mind training to do something else. I've only asked this question as he rang me on his lunch break in such a bad mood and said he wants something different but he doesn't know what! and he think's working as a mechantic is making him lose his hair!!

Its sounds like he is burned out. He is still young enough to go back to school. He needs a job that gives satisfaction. Has he ever considered the fire service? or Law enforcement? What ever he decides he must get job satisfaction.
I was working at Chevrolet and was miserable. I was working with all these old men who were miserable. I did not want to work there for 30 years. So at age 22 I quit, went back to school full time, found a part time job, and at age 25 was hired as a firefighter. I did not have any debt and found a cheaper place to live. My girlfriend (now my wife) helped support me until I finished with school and got hired in what I think is the best job in the world. Why? Because I get to help people. 23 years later I still like coming to work. So tell your BF he has options. He can wrench part-time while he goes to school. GOOD LUCK!

can he drive? he could train to be a driving instructor. he could do that round his current job.
how about the care industry. he could help to support people with learning disabilities. that's an amazing job. fun, hard work. fulfilling and also once you realise how much heart these people have it takes your mind of your own trivial problems.

Well sounds your guy is making a real risk, but you now, for some people near enough is good enough but for some good enough is never enough. The latter can make big changes!!
who knows maybe your bf is one of those!!! good luck for both of you! :D

I`m more struck with the fact that you say hes 22 in feb 2008.........
Why didn`t you simply say hes 21.....?
Are you older than him....?
You sound like you`re mothering him - let him decide for himself what he wants to do.

Im guessing he wants to work with his hands, rather than an office job.
How about plumbing, I think there is a shortage of plumbers? He can work what hours he likes and they make loads.
