I have to get a procedure done tomorrow that I am whining about. How do you deal with it? Stoic silence or do you make jokes? I am NOT looking forward to this.

We are way beyond fingers here... I wouldn't bother to whine about that, even as big a baby as I am.

I pretend like I am enjoying it and they make it quick. LOL. U okay friend? May I be so bold as to ask? Are they shoving a tube up your *** with a light on the end of it? Been there done that. The drugs are great though.

For starters we find women doctors and nurse assistants...who talk and explain everything they are doing as they are doing it and why. Most are totally booked by the way.
As for your procedure, don't worry. You will have such a headache from coffee withdrawal you won't care what goes on.
Also, they know everyone is uncomfortable with the procedure and act accordingly. Appreciate the fact it is just a standard safety net procedure... not a surgery. We women never get used to a lifetime of being poked and prodded with ice cold instruments ... but we learned to accept it. What choice do we have? Best of Luck.

There is something awfully wrong with the relationship between you and your doctor if you feel that uncomfortable.

You should be able to tell your doctor anything. After all, it is your well being we are talking about here. If you feel uncomfortable, tell him so!

Anytime there is a procedure done, it is required that a third party be in the examination room with you and your doctor. This is usually a nurse or a medical assistant.

Some women feel more comfortable with a female M.D. The choice is yours.

No.... joking doesn't cut it. There is nothing funny about your health.

I usually opt for the stoic silence, or pretending it's not really going on. In your case, I'm guessing the more common reaction is to carry on jokes. But I wouldn't know myself. Poor thing....It'll be over before you know it.

Well.... it deoends on the doctor. Some docs try and make small talk which honestly, I dont know if it makes it better or worse...lol. So many docotrs now have pictures on the ceiling to look at, and I have even heard of them having flat screen tvs up there. Its all about the doctor though, if he/she is talking, talk back and make your jokes... if not, just be quiet and try not to move.. good luck!

I go stiff and refuse to talk. It's pretty bad. But you shouldn't be a big baby because you're a guy!!! Right?? Jokes will come with the pain killers. They're gonna love ya. Good luck!!

I go on there knowing it has to be done and try to joke about it. Before you know it the procedure is done and you get out of there. Good Luck....

We hate it and dread it. We do it because we have to to stay healthy and stay ahead of anything that might come up. Trust me, every year I dread and whine and moan about going for my visits. They are uncomfortable and nothing like laying in a cold office but naked feet up and but bared for a complete stranger! Ues, we hate it. Yes we dread it. But, we get er done and move on.

Stoic silence. Try to think of your happy place. It's not easy but it will be over soon.

My doctor has all these cute pictures taped to the ceiling so I just focus on them until she's done. It helps that she's a woman and is sympathetic to what her patients are going through. You gotta do what you gotta do if you want to stay healthy.
