I remember seeing a horror movie with some type of rodent, made in the old days of the 70's or 80's or maybe early 90's but doubt it was that late....anybody know what movie i'm talking about

It sounds like the movie called "THE RATS" which was adapted from a novel written in 1976. The movie came out in 1977-78.
