Reality consists of whatever WE CALL real. Therefore it isn't real, as if it matches the picture me or you has in the mind. Thus, for me the relation reality/mental representation is not at stake. Reality is the consensus among all people.
But this consensus doesn't actually has to be enacted. It can just stay imagined. Since expectations of others can be anticipated, one can be certain of what others accept as real. And in that way reality isn't a conventional thing nor something that's 'out there'. It's a consensus.

Reality is no more or less than what preceded it and what will follow whatever that reality is; and this, in any realm in which the law of duality holds sway, and for as long as the unknown that is ' X' exists.
For every reality, there exists another reality below it, above it, lateral to it, and reflexive of it...and is ever supplanted by the next perception, experience, feeling, and understanding of that given reality.

Reality is what's really happening in the world. It's not the fun shows and happy things, although that's part of life. Reality is more of the sufferings this world has because many are rejecting God's guidance. Reality is the fate of these guys. Reality is Heaven and Hell. Reality is life itself.

Reality is relative to the person it affects. My reality is not the same as your reality for instance. It is a set of beliefs, and values, mixed in with cold hard data. It is the data that gets processed differently by different people therefore making reality a relative experience.

Realty has a structural and host nature, holds the outer shape of the identities, keeping them stable, sustained, surviving, connected, alive and functioning.
Always invisible, just expresses its existence by different signs and symbols. What we may sense about reality, is just its outer shape, the aesthetics.
Reality has an inner and an outer, strongly harmonised and inter communicable. But as being a close system, reality just communicates with other realities, through its outer shape, the aesthetical out look.

"What?" questions can reformulated or reparsed as "how?" questions.
How do I create my reality? How do you create your reality?
The type of question of results in the information is needed in any given moment. At the very least, our realities differ.
If, for example, you believe the neighbourhood dog will bite you and I don't believe that. We then have two different realities. Your reality then, includes fear and anxiety. Mine reality includes calmness and enjoyment of the dog.

Reality for me is when I woke in the morning and realized I forget to pay my bills and received an annoying phone call a few days after.

This is more easily understandable if one considers the actual scale of the components of an atom. If one takes into account the fact that the neutrons, protons and electrons of an atom actually have huge spaces between them it becomes clear that the atoms that make up seemingly solid objects are made up of 99+ percent empty space.
This alone does not seem too important till you add the idea that the atoms that make up seemingly solid objects are more of a loose conglomeration that share a similar attraction but never really touch each other.
At first glance this does not really seem relevant, but closer analysis reveals that this adds a tremendous amount of empty space to solid objects that are already made up of atoms that are 99 percent space. When so-called solid objects are seen in this light it becomes apparent that they can in no way be the seemingly solid objects they appear to be.
We ourselves are not exceptions to this phenomenon.
These seemingly solid objects are more like ghostly images that we interpret as solid objects based on our perceptual conclusions.
From this we must conclude that Perception is some sort of a trick that helps us to take these ghostly images and turn them into a world we can associate and interact with. This clever device seems to be a creation of our intellect that enables us to interact with each other in what appears to be a three dimensional reality.
I hope that helps to answered your question.
Love and blessings Don
