The Stand..by Stephen King.good story I was overwhelmed because not only is it a good book,it is like a gazillion pages long.

A brief HIstory of Time by Stephen Hawking,

Makes you think about origins and endings and if there was one or will be another.

It is not full of mathematics and actually a fairly easy read. I would reccomend it highly to anyone interested in cosomology, or just what goes on in the universe.

The darling buds of may.by H.E. Bates.It was the first grown up book I read and bowled me off my feet.The whole experience was enchanting ,the characters delightful and completely harmless, although just a bit naughty.From then on I will read read anything .I have read better and worse over the years-----whenever I am depressed I re -read this book.Its a truly cheering, easy read that cheers my soul.

Captain Corelli's Mandolin - they should never have made that rubbish movie.

Louis de Berniere is the only writer I know who's books are worth reading for the sheer beauty of each sentence, rather than for the story.

Had to be THE DIARY OF A YOUNGI GIRL by Anne Frank which I read in 1972 and I had seen the movie so many times as I was growing up., They both had a profound effect on me.
