The space used for your emails and websites are hosted on their servers that contain several hard drives... The hard drives are where the space is available from. One hard drive nowadays can be 750 gigabytes plus... And they probably have hundreds of servers running at a time so you can only imagine. Say they have 100 servers running and each has 1500 gigabytes (or 1.5 terrabytes), that is 1500 email people by itself and most people dont even use much more than 10-20 megabytes.
