Yes. Reason - because people will still want to see and be seen. The shopping mall near you is as much about you wearing the latest fashions and meeting up with friends, as it is about buying goods.

The largest shopping centre [mall] in Europe, is right here in UK. It is BLUE WATER near Dartford in Kent. The company and shareholders who paid for this development, know they are on to a good thing. Why? Because once inside the shopping centre, with it's air conditioning and climate control, it may as well be high summer in mid-winter. That's how it always feels to me anyway.

As for shopping in on High Street UK - this probably has a finite life in that it nearly always costs to park the car and public transport is useless and if it rains everyone gets wet and hissed off.

Most High Streets in my experience are just cobblers anyway. It's where the shop keepers dictate to the customers and not the other way around, as is the case with the shopping centre or mall.

The other most important thing about the shopping centre or mall is security. Lots of security staff, lots of spy cams everywhere, etc.

Nowhere is totally secure but a shopping centre is much safer than High Street UK.

Watch out for car bombs.
