to the beach, to the beach...

first the outer banks here in nc. unspoiled vistas of sand and the angle of the sun to the right, to the right just feels right with my babe by my side. add dolphins offshore and jets overhead, and a stray guitar player walking and strumming to himself on a hazy lazy day... the outer banks.

next to a woodland lake in northern minnesota. to the woods, to the woods. the tall pines whisper and sigh, and the birds add their voice to what is otherwise unearthly quiet. no motors, no jets here! but the waves lap at the shore, at the shore. the sun glints off the water. is that a moose? naw it's just brother bear, enjoying the water as well.

it's just a few hours to the shore of lake superior. you can see forever, all the way to the sky, to the sky. bigger waves here, and the vista of pleasure boats and ships unfolds at a distance. so cold, so blue... so close to nature and the hand that created it.

and the final stop is to brazil, to the south, to the south. i've seen pictures of a certain place, with warm sands and exotic music and language. the sea, she is the color of teal. this is where enya was singing of. i close my eyes and hear the surf roar.

thanks for the free tour! the water exhilarates and refreshes me. it's my dream trip, always!

theroguerook "sort of" took my answer! I was going to say to Big Basin (or was that Boulder Creek?) such a long time ago!
When I lived in San Francisco & didn't really need a car, a couple of times--like even 2a! I'd rent a car & drive to the awesome redwood forests. All alone best. So quiet. There was a favourite place where the trees were in a circle, like a huge cathedral. I remember once winding around the dark road, & the moon would be before me, or over my shoulder, pale, floating here & there. But, there is nothing like the PRESENCE of those magnificant trees! They have the "spirit" of the ages. I've got chills just thinking of them. They are wise, & solemn & serene. If you do go, try putting your arms around them, (not that they could possibly reach alll the way around!) but just to feel how you truly connect. They are also gentle giants.
How very nice to see a question that recalls what seems so long forgotten.

I would love to take my wife to Redwood National Forest in California. I've never been that far west and we are both just in awe of trees. I have no doubt that we could spend days just walking amongst those magnificent giants. I'd have to make sure I had plenty of fresh batteries for the camera of course.
